Dear Wesley,
You sure are a momma's boy! Ever since school started you just cannot get enough of me. You are always sitting by me, or on me if possible, and you just always want to be by me. I don't mind. It makes me feel loved. And I know you love me. Even at church you only want to sit with me. You won't even think about sitting on the bench by me. You are so silly. When you start acting up I ask if you want to go sit with dad. You always say no, so I tell you to stop or calm down or whatever, and you do. It is a little sad that I'm using dad as a punishment, but at this point that is how it is.
You (and the rest of us) just got over the swine flu (H1N1). It wasn't so fun. You actually seemed to do pretty well with it. You just laid around and rested a lot. You ended up missing a week and a half of school (plus the day I checked you out early when you really weren't sick). It was really only 3 days, but that is still a lot when you only go 2 days a week. I had to pick you up again on Thursday because you were sick again. I think you are finally about better. Let's hope you stay that way now.
A few weeks ago Miss Melissa called and told me that you had fallen 4 feet off the jungle gym at school and landed on your face. You were okay, but it was still scary. So we had a meeting on Thursday and got approval to have someone come play with you at recess to make sure you don't fall again. You are too little and important for that kind of a fall to happen any more times. I hope they find someone spunky. You sure like to move.
You give me lots of hugs and kisses. You like to play a game and kiss each side of my cheek over and over and over. It is so sweet. I've never met such a loving boy. I'm glad you get to be in my family and help me understand love. It sure is fun!
Today we talked to my family on the webcam. You loved it. You remembered baby Taylor from when he was here visiting, so you kept wanting to look at him up close and touch him on the computer screen. I'm glad you like him. We get to see him in January again when we go to Utah for Aunt Kim's wedding. I think you will be so excited to see your cousins. They all sure love you a lot.
You know how to feed yourself with a spoon pretty well now. You do it a lot at school and I try to let you do it here. You are getting so good at it. You also learned how to use the urinal at school. I was very surprised to find that one out. I had no idea! You are also learning lots of new words. It is fun for me to see you grow.
I love you!
Love,
Mom

Dear Wesley,
Today you locked Skyler and me out of the house. This was actually the second time you locked me out of the house, but last time I was smart and took my keys. We went out to pick some tomatoes, and when we came back the dead bolt on the front door was locked (or as locked as it can get, but still locked enough to keep the door closed). Skyler started to panic. We said a little prayer and tried to convince you through the door that you needed to unlock the door. You just played with the handle. After talking to you for a while I decided to call dad and see if he could hurry home. Jim didn't answer his door, so Skyler and I went to Nancy and Charlie's house (I couldn't convince him to stay at the door and talk to you). We knocked and knocked. Nancy finally came to the door with her hair in rollers. She had been in the bath. We called dad three times, but he never answered. When we got back we talked to you more and you eventually unlocked the door. We were so happy! Later at dinner I realized that I had left the back door unlocked earlier in the day, so we could have gotten in the whole time. Oops!
You finally had a good day at school last Thursday. After three bad days we had success! You had a couple of bananas and some juice for lunch, which was a huge breakthrough. Your teachers said you did so well the whole day. I am so proud of you! I hope you can keep up the good work!
I sure love you! Ever since you started school you have been very snuggly with me. You always want to be right by me, most of the time snuggled right up to me. You give me lots and lots of kisses, which I don't even ask for. I decided yesterday that you are full of the love of Christ, aka charity. I think that is one of your talents from Heavenly Father.
We talked about talents for family home evening tonight and we decided that you have a talent for laughing. You love to laugh and your laughter is very contagious. I am so happy to have you in my family!
Love,
Mom

Dear Wesley,
You had such a fun time at the park today. You got so dirty, which translated to me getting so dirty. By the time we went home the dirt had all fallen off of you, but I looked like I had been rolling in the mud. You played and played and played. You wanted to play softball with the adults so bad. I let you play ball with the little kids instead. You decided that was just as good. You went down the slide over and over. You have gotten really good at climbing the slide stairs. Dad and I don't even have to stand by you anymore.
You get to start school in a week and a day. I am so excited for you. You get to ride the bus (with a harness to keep you in your seat) with Skyler. He is very excited to sit by you and help you. Today Skyler told you during FHE that he likes to help you with chores.
You were very grumpy when I woke you up from your nap today. I have never seen you that grumpy. You didn't want to wake up, and when you finally did you were very cross and had a scowl on your face. I thought it was funny. All you wanted for dinner was bread. That is your favorite food.
You sure know how to make people smile. Everyone that meets you loves you. It is so fun.
I love you,
Mom

Dear Wesley,
Today you thought it would be fun to dump a whole box of Cheerios on the floor. This is the second time in a week and a half. I salvaged some of it today, but most if it ended up in the garbage. I had to remind myself not to "cry over spilled [Cheerios]." You sure love to make messes. But you also like to clean them up.
Skyler built a fort this morning, but you still haven't figured out what forts are all about. You kept trying to climb on top of it. Skyler was kind and let you crush it all down before you ate breakfast. You liked that a lot.
We get to spend the evening and morning alone together. Daddy and Skyler are going camping, so we are having a mom and Wes night. I think it will be fun. We don't get much alone time any more. But that will change when school starts in a couple of weeks.
You get to start school in about two and a half weeks. I am so excited for you. I think you are going to love it. Miss Melissa already loves you, and I think you will love her back. I am anxious to see how you respond to and progress in preschool. I think you will be a great student.
I love you!
